Bollywood’s much-anticipated Don 3 has undergone a major casting change as Kriti Sanon replaces mom-to-be Kiara Advani as the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. Advani, who announced her pregnancy with husband Sidharth Malhotra earlier this year, opted out of the Farhan Akhtar-directed project to prioritize her personal life. Sanon, a National Award winner for Mimi, has reportedly given her nod to play Roma—a role previously essayed by Priyanka Chopra in the franchise—and will soon sign the contract.
Sources close to the production revealed that Excel Entertainment sought an actress with “screen presence and experience” for the high-octane action thriller, and Sanon emerged as the perfect fit. “She has the aura to pull off Roma and is thrilled to join the Don legacy,” shared an insider. The film, which marks Ranveer Singh’s debut as the new Don following Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic portrayals, will largely shoot in Europe from October-November 2025. Locations are finalized, and the script is locked, with pre-production underway for the slick action sequences.
Earlier, speculation pointed to Munjya star Sharvari as a contender, but Sanon’s casting now seems confirmed. The project, announced in 2023, faced initial backlash over Singh’s selection, but the actor vowed to “honor the franchise’s legacy.” Meanwhile, Sanon will wrap up her commitments for Tere Ishk Mein and Cocktail 2 before diving into Don 3.
With Advani’s exit and Sanon’s entry, the film’s dynamics promise fresh energy. Akhtar, returning to direction after a decade, aims to deliver a fitting conclusion to the rebooted series that began with SRK’s Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006).
