Intermediate exams 2025 postponed in Karachi, Balochistan and South KP

Exams delayed by 9 days in Karachi due to logistical issues; Balochistan postpones tests for 3 weeks as teachers refuse duties

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the Intermediate Annual Examinations 2025 for nine days, shifting the start date from April 28 to May 6 or later, citing logistical challenges, including the unavailability of exam centers and pending result revisions due to grace marks. The delay will also affect Commerce and Arts group exams, originally scheduled for the second phase.

This follows an earlier postponement of matric exams, initially set for March 15 but rescheduled to April 8-May 2 after private schools raised concerns over Ramadan. With matric exams still underway, intermediate venues remain occupied, further complicating scheduling. Sources reveal that 300 exam centers await approval, over 27,000 forms are pending scrutiny, and tabulation delays persist due to administrative bottlenecks.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) abruptly postponed intermediate exams—scheduled to begin April 22—for three weeks, citing “unavoidable reasons.” Reports indicate the delay stems from a teacher boycott, leaving exam arrangements in disarray. Students have criticized the move, fearing it could disrupt medical college admissions next year.

In a separate development, matric exams in North Waziristan were postponed indefinitely due to security concerns, affecting thousands of students. The Bannu Board stated new dates would be announced after consulting authorities, while exams proceed as planned in other KP districts.

With extreme heat alerts adding to the challenges, students across Sindh and Balochistan face prolonged uncertainty, compounding stress over academic timelines and future admissions. No revised schedules have been finalized yet.
