The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a historic announcement for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), revealing that the tournament will feature full-match Urdu commentary for the entire season. This marks the first time in PSL history that fans will have the option to follow live broadcasts in Pakistan’s national language, allowing them to experience the excitement of the league matches in Urdu. The decision is part of the PCB’s efforts to deepen engagement with millions of cricket fans across the country and make the tournament more accessible to a wider audience.
PSL 10 is scheduled to run from April 11 to May 18, with defending champions Islamabad United set to face two-time winners Lahore Qalandars in the opening match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The tournament will feature six teams playing 34 matches across four cities—Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including both Eliminators and the grand final.
PCB Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer described the introduction of Urdu commentary as a landmark moment for the league and its growing fanbase. He emphasized that cricket serves as a unifying force in Pakistan and expressed hope that this initiative would bring the excitement of PSL closer to fans in every corner of the country. The PCB stated that broadcast details, including commentary panels for both English and Urdu, will be announced in due course.
This move revives a tradition from Pakistan’s golden era of radio and early television, when legendary commentators like Omar Kureishi and Chishti Mujahid delivered cricket coverage in both Urdu and English. Urdu commentary was particularly popular on Radio Pakistan, helping expand the sport’s reach among the masses.
Meanwhile, physical tickets for PSL 10 will go on sale at designated TCS Express Centers across the country starting Monday, April 7, at 4:00 PM. Fans who book tickets online can either collect them from designated centers or opt for home delivery via TCS.
The PCB’s decision to introduce full Urdu commentary has been widely welcomed, with many viewing it as a step toward making cricket more inclusive and enjoyable for local audiences. As the countdown to PSL 10 begins, fans eagerly await further details on commentary panels and broadcast arrangements.
