The Mansehra police have launched a major crackdown on corruption after a viral video exposed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) allegedly taking bribes from citizens. District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur took immediate action, suspending the accused officer and his driver while ordering a high-level inquiry into the misconduct.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, allegedly shows ASI Waqar and driver Aurangzeb from City Police Station accepting illegal payments. DPO Gandapur swiftly appointed SSPO Nazeer Khan as the inquiry officer, demanding a full investigative report within 72 hours.
“Corruption will not be tolerated in any form,” declared DPO Gandapur. “Our priority is maintaining public trust through accountability and transparency.”
The decisive action underscores the department’s commitment to rooting out malpractice, with officials warning of strict legal consequences if the allegations are proven.
