Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has directed all concerned authorities to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. The Chief Minister’s Secretariat has issued a letter comprising 20 key points to administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police, and other relevant entities for implementation.
The letter instructs all the Deputy Commissioners to hold pre-Eid meetings with relevant departments, police, and law enforcement agencies in their respective districts to devise security plans for Eid congregations at Eidgahs, mosques, and imambargahs. It also emphasizes that no administrative officer is allowed to leave their duty station during Eid holidays without prior approval; officers must seek express approvel from their Deputy Commissioners, while Deputy Commissioners from their respective commissioners, and commissioners from the Chief Secretary—and ensure that a substitute officer is present in their absence.
Regarding aerial firing, authorities have been directed to impose ban on airial firing and fireworks on Chand Raat with police instructed to take stern legal action against violators. Public transport fares will also be closely monitored, and action will be taken against anyone charging above the official rates. The letter further directs special deployment of traffic police squads to curb one-wheeling, over-speeding, and riding motorcycles without helmets during the Eid holidays. A special cleanliness campaign is to be launched in public spaces, particularly markets and Eidgahs. In areas where large numbers of women are expected to shop, female police personnel are to be deployed. Traffic management at tourist spots and on access roads to these destinations must be improved, with the deployment of tourism police and Civil Defence personnel. The administration has further been directed to impose a complete ban on swimming in fast-flowing rivers during the holidays, stressing the enforcement of existing SOPs at rivers and dams. Boating without life jackets or overloading boats beyond their capacity is strictly prohibited. To deal effectively with emergencies, Rescue 1122 will remain on high alert near rivers and other crowded locations. Additionally, the Communication & Works Department and Urban Development Authorities are instructed to be on standby, keeping essential machinery ready to ensure roads remain open and accessible at all times.
Tourism authorities have been ordered to keep tourist facilitation centers and helplines operational round the clock during Eid. Special attention will be given to recreational parks, where management will be instructed to prevent overloading on rides. Furthermore, all cable car operators must submit valid fitness certificates.
Healthcare centers across the province will remain operational 24/7, with adequate stocks of emergency medicines and staff availability ensured. Authorities will also make arrangements to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products at petrol stations, particularly in tourist areas and high-traffic locations. Traffic management plans and cleanliness arrangements for Eid congregations and festivals must be finalized in a timely manner. Deputy commissioners are also directed to visit jails, hospitals, and orphanages during the Eid holidays.
The Deputy Commissioners have also been directed to ensure 24/7 control rooms in their office with contact number widely publicized for public awareness.
