KP government collects data on Afghan students in educational institutions

Authorities gather comprehensive information to facilitate repatriation process; schools, colleges, and universities directed to submit data within a week

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has initiated the collection of data on Afghan refugee children enrolled in educational institutions across the province. This move aims to support the government’s efforts in facilitating the repatriation process of Afghan students.

According to official documents, all public schools, colleges, and universities in KP have been directed to provide complete details of Afghan students. Standardized forms have been issued for this purpose, requiring institutions to submit information such as the students’ district, school, and other essential details.

The forms mandate comprehensive data, including the students’ educational background, parents’ information, and other relevant particulars. Educational institutions have been instructed to submit the data within one week. Sources reveal that a significant number of Afghan students are enrolled in both private and public educational institutions in KP, but the government lacked complete records until now.

The data collection process is part of the government’s broader plan to streamline the repatriation of Afghan refugees and ensure accurate information is available for decision-making. Authorities emphasize that this initiative will help facilitate a smoother transition for Afghan students and their families as they prepare to return to their home country.
