KP Police martyrs to be honored on Pakistan Day

President Approves Hilal-e-Shujaat and Other Awards for Brave Officers Who Stood Firm Against Terrorism

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of civil awards on 104 Pakistani and foreign nationals, including police officers who sacrificed their lives for the country. The awards will be presented at a special ceremony on March 23, 2025, Pakistan Day. Among the recipients are several brave officers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police, who have been recognized for their unwavering courage in the fight against terrorism.

The KP Police, often described as aniron wall against terrorists, has set an unparalleled example of sacrifice and bravery in Pakistan’s history. Despite limited resources, these officers have laid down their lives to protect the nation. Their sacrifices will be remembered for generations to come.

In recent terrorist incidents in KP, police personnel have continued to fall as martyrs, yet the force remains steadfast. To honor their valor, the Government of Pakistan has awarded Hilal-e-Shujaat and other medals to several officers, including:

  • SP Shaheed Cadet Ijaz Khan (Hilal-e-Shujaat)
  • DSP Shaheed Sardar Hussain (Hilal-e-Shujaat)
  • Additional SHO Shaheed Adnan Afridi
  • DSP Malik Din Khel
  • DSP Alam Iqbal Shaheed
  • Sub-Inspector Bukhari Shah (Charsadda District)

The Hilal-e-Shujaat, also known as the Star of Bravery, is the second-highest civil award in Pakistan. It is typically awarded to civilians, including human rights defenders, military personnel, and law enforcement officers, for acts of extraordinary bravery. The awards are announced on Independence Day and conferred on Pakistan Day.

This year, SSP Muhammad Hilal Shaheed from Swat, who was martyred in Chilas, has been posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat. Other KP officers who have previously received awards include Shaheed Commandant FC Sifat Ghayur, former IG KP Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, and DSP Shaheed Farid Hussain Pangish, among over 31 police personnel.

The KP Police has also been honored with the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal in the past, reflecting their enduring commitment to safeguarding the nation.
