Three dead and two injured in car accident in Lower Kohistan

The deceased, residents of Swat, were reportedly involved in the garments business in Chilas

A Fielder car traveling from Gilgit to Swat met with a fatal accident near the Jijal Lower Kohistan area, close to the Abshaar Nala (also known as the “Valley of Death”). According to the reports, three individuals lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries. Rescue teams arrived at the scene and continued their relief operations.

The deceased, residents of Swat, were reportedly involved in the garments business in Chilas. Abshaar Nala area has witnessed numerous accidents over the years, claiming countless lives. Locals and witnesses have repeatedly raised concerns about the lack of safety measures, particularly the absence of protective barriers along this perilous stretch of the highway.

Residents have urged the authorities to take immediate action to prevent further loss of precious lives. “We have been pleading for years to install safety walls in this area, but no action has been taken. How many more lives must be lost before something is done?” said a local resident.

The Abshaar Nala area, notorious for its deadly accidents, continues to pose a significant risk to travelers due to inadequate road safety infrastructure. Authorities are being called upon to prioritize the installation of safety barriers and other preventive measures to ensure the safety of commuters.
