Four dead and nine injured due to heavy rainfall in KP

The adverse weather has disrupted transportation, with the Karakoram Highway blocked due to landslides at two locations in upper Kohistan

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has reported that the ongoing wet spell in the province has resulted in four fatalities and left nine others injured. Additionally, at least 14 houses were damaged due to the heavy rainfall.

The rain-related incidents occurred in several districts, including Haripur, Battagram, Bajaur, Kohistan, Dir, Hangu, Khyber, and Torghar. Heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds also affected Buner, Malakand, Nowshera, Mohamand, Lakki Marwat, and surrounding areas, exacerbating the already cold weather conditions.

In the northern regions of KP, snowfall continued in Swat, Mansehra, and various parts of Chitral district, including areas near the Lowari Tunnel. The adverse weather has disrupted transportation, with the Karakoram Highway blocked due to landslides at two locations in upper Kohistan, according to local police.

Meanwhile, a westerly wave has entered the northern parts of Balochistan, bringing rainfall and intensifying cold weather in Chaman and nearby areas. Rainfall was also reported in Qilla Abdullah, Gulistan, Jungle Pir Ali, and Toba Achakzai.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the wet spell continues to impact the region, urging residents to exercise caution and stay informed about weather updates.
